Lin, Korçë

Lin ( Albanian: Lini ) is located on the western shore of Lake Ohrid village in Eastern Albania. The unit belonging to Komuna Hudenisht village lies below the pass Qafë Thana on a small peninsula on the lake shore. About two kilometers north of Lin, the border with Macedonia; the county town of Pogradec, located 22 kilometers to the south. In the immediate vicinity of the site the main road from Elbasan runs over Përrenjas Pogradec and Korca after. The Macedonian town Struga is located ten kilometers north.

Lin has a mosque, a Christian Orthodox church and an elementary and middle school. The townscape is dominated by old stone houses in the style of the region. In addition to agriculture, fishing and breeding has become a source of income of residents now also tourism.

The peninsula of Lin - as evidenced by archaeological excavations - inhabited since at least the Iron Age. The prehistoric and ancient settlements were all on the hilltop above the present village. There are also the foundation walls and floor mosaics of the early Christian church were discovered from the 6th century.

At the time of antiquity Lin was inhabited by Illyrians. In the 7th or 8th century Slavs settled. Until the early 20th century, also a Macedonian or Bulgarian dialect was spoken in Lin alongside Albanian. Today, the population is entirely Albanian Siert.
