Lincoln Sea

The Lincolnsee is an arm of the Arctic Ocean north of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, and Greenland. About the Naresstraße it is associated with the Baffin Bay. It extends south of an imaginary line from Cape Columbia in the west ( the northernmost point of Canada ) to Cape Morris Jesup in the East ( the northernmost point of Greenland). In the 19th century, the beginning of the ice-free zone of the Arctic Ocean has been suggested in the Lincolnsee. It was named by Adolphus Greely, who sailed during his polar expedition of 1881-1884. It is named after Robert Todd Lincoln, the first son of the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, and former Secretary of War of the United States.
