Lindenberg Medal

The Lindenberg Medal is an award for outstanding achievement in the field of philatelic research or literature. It is one of the world's most important prizes in this field. Sometimes it is even referred to as the "Nobel Prize of philatelists ."

The "Berlin Philatelic Club " named the medal after its former chairman Carl Lindenberg and donated it in 1905 in his honor. The original embossing stamp made ​​at the Duke of Saxony Hofmedailleur Max von Kawaczynski. Because of the outbreak of the First World War gave Castle, Evans, Bacon and Hanciau their medals back. Between 1906 and 1943 she gave the club at 30 philatelists. The embossing temple was destroyed in the Second World War, thus the association awarded this honor not for a long time.

Since 1981 she is awarded by the "Berlin Philatelic Club " again. The new stamping dies leaving the club copy by using the original Medal of Dr. Emilio Diena.
