Lindex

Lindex is a Swedish clothing retail company based in Gothenburg.

History

Lindex was founded by Ingemar Boman and Bengt Rosell in 1954, when they together led her underwear business fynd in Alingsås with the company Lindex in Göteborg, which from then on was named for the new business. First, the company expanded in Sweden in the 1970s was followed by the entry in the Norwegian market and at the beginning of the 1980s in Denmark, Finland and the UK. The company was sold to the Finnish company Stockmann in October 2007.

After the IPO, and the placement on the stock exchange by the private equity firm Industri Kapital in 1995 Lindex is listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange. After focusing on the three Scandinavian countries in 1998 to expand into Germany, in 2004 and 2006 to Estonia to Lithuania. In 2007, the chain moved back from Germany back, and closed all 23 stores.
