Earth sciences

The term is used in geology and closely related subjects for the geometric intersection of a regional or even continent-wide major system of tectonic disturbances to the earth's surface. These disorders may extend deep into the earth's crust (often up to the upper mantle ). Geological lineaments are closely related to plate-tectonic processes in the context that may well lie in the distant geological past.

Among the largest of these structures on Earth is one of the East African grave breach. One of the major lineaments in Europe is the Mediterranean Mjösen zone, which, inter alia, in the form of the Rhone Valley, the Upper Rhine Graben and the Oslo fjord and geomorphological is expressed.
