Linux Mint is a Linux distribution, which comes in two variants. The first variant, the main issue, is based on the distribution Ubuntu. The second variant, Linux Mint Debian Edition ( LMDE ) called, is based on Debian testing. Mint is since 2011 the most frequently clicked Linux distribution on the home page of Distrowatch. Maintainer for this distribution is Clement Lefebvre.

Editions

As of Ubuntu, there are also different versions of Linux Mint, which differ in work environment, window manager or the supplied software packages.

Gnome Edition (formerly Home Edition )

The Linux Mint derivative Linux Mint Main Edition, currently Linux Mint 16 " Petra" (November 2013), differs from Ubuntu only in some details.
