Lipany (Vitice)

Lipany ( German Lipan ) is a district of the municipality Vitice in the Czech Republic. It is located five kilometers north-west of Kourim and belongs to Okres Kolin.

Geography

Lipany is located in the Central Bohemian Uplands at the northern foot of the hill Lipská hora ( Lipska, 367 m).

Neighboring towns are Chrášťany and Chotouň in the north, Kubšovka and Vrbčany in the northeast, Miškovice in the east, Borek, Třebovle and Hlaváčova Lhota in the southeast, Království and Dobré poles in the south, Močedník the southwest, Vitice and Hřiby in the west and Bylany in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of Lipany took place in 1360 as the seat of the Vladikengeschlechts Lipanský of Lipany. On May 30, 1434 decisive battle of the Hussite wars between the radical Hussites Andreas Prokop and Jan Čapek ze Sán and the alliance of Imperial and Utraquists took place at the Lipská hora, which has become known as the Battle of Lipan in the story.

After the abolition of patrimonial Lipany formed in 1850 a district of the political community in the district Český Brod Vitice. From 1878, formed Lipany own community. Since 1961 Lipany belongs to Okres Kolin. In 1972, the annexation to Vitice. In 1991, the city had 114 inhabitants. In 2001 the village consisted of 45 houses, in which 96 people lived. On the last Saturday in May, a procession is held by the Lipská hora in Lipany.

Attractions

  • Lipská hora, viewpoint; since 1881 is located on the hill, a 11 -meter high monument, which commemorates the Battle of Lipan. In 1990, the monument was refurbished.
