Lipnice nad Sázavou

Lipnice nad Sázavou ( German Lipnice at the Sasau ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. You more than twelve kilometers west of Havlíčkův Brod and belongs to Okres Havlíčkův Brod.

Geography

Lipnice nad Sázavou is located on a ridge of the hill country of the upper Sázava, a branch of the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands in the border areas of Bohemia to Moravia. To the north rises the Holý vrch (620 m). Contrary to what its name implies, the place is not at the Sázava (river), the river runs five kilometers north-east.

Neighboring towns are Radostovice in the north, Vilémovec in the northeast, and Volichov Vítonín in the east, Dolni Dvur and Bratroňov to the southeast, and Kejžlice Řečice in the southwest, and Bystrá Křepiny in the west and Dolni Mesto neighborhood in the northwest.

History

The first mention was made in 1226 by Lipnice concerned the place Dolni Mesto. The scale at the foot of the castle Lipnice Horni Lipnice was only at the beginning of the 14th century in connection with the construction of the castle. 1370 the settlement was elevated by Emperor Charles IV to the city and got the right to brew beer. During the Thirty Years' War the city walls and two-thirds of the houses were razed to the ground by the Swedish conqueror on November 16 in 1639. From the 17th century, the city developed again. In the 19th century it came by a lack of infrastructure to stagnation. The fire in 1869 destroyed a large part of the mining and Glashütte city.

For holidays and weekends, the population is growing considerably in by the owners of numerous dachas. In the resort 130 companies are reported. The majority of the population lives from agriculture and employment in nearby towns.

Attractions

  • Medieval z.T. reconstructed castle ruins with museum with an exhibition of old stove tiles. In the castle grounds belonging to the natural amphitheater of cultural events.
  • Church of St. Vitus, originally a Gothic church was rebuilt in the 17th century in the Baroque style
  • Statues of St. John of Nepomuk on the marketplace, the Immaculata from 1700 and St. Florian in the 19th century near
  • Jaroslav Hašek monument over his former home near the castle
  • Monument " Bretschneiderovo ucho " on Holý vrch in the quarry, the two-meter high stone " Bretschneider " ears on a rock face in the quarry were created by RADOMÍR Dvořák in 2005 and belong to a cycle of three sculptures against eavesdropping and spying. They are named after the spy Bretschneider from The Good Soldier Schweik.
