Lipovac, Vukovar-Syrmia County

Lipovac ( German: Lipowatz ) is a town in eastern Croatia on the border with Serbia, south of the river Bosut, in the region of Slavonia.

Lipovac is located near the mouth of the stream Spaeva into the river Bosut, 24 km southeast of Zupanja and 7 km west of the border with Serbia. Administratively, the city belongs to the municipality Nijemci in the Vukovar- Syrmia ( kroat. Vukovarsko - srijemska županija ). Lipovac has 1,243 inhabitants ( 2001 census ).

Particularity

In Lipovac the Croatian A3 motorway ( Posavska Autocesta ) ends. During the war, Croatia, the place was occupied by Serb forces. After the independence of the country to the east of the A3 which indicated to date, Beograd ( Belgrade ), the inscription was replaced by Lipovac on all highway signs, which helped the city to great prominence in Croatia. Tourism

The Church of St. Luke, a single-nave late Gothic church from the end of the 14th century, was restored in 1897. First, the church had a vault, evidence of the two Gothic corbels next to the choir.
