Lisa Loeb
Lisa Anne Loeb ( born March 11, 1968 in Bethesda, Maryland, USA) is an American singer and actress. Their music is attributed to the music style of the singer-songwriter, with elements of pop, pop-rock and folk. Regarding her appearance she became famous mostly as convinced wear glasses to a certain celebrity.
Life
Loeb studied literature at Brown University in Providence (Rhode Iceland ). During this time she began to make music together with Elizabeth Mitchell under the name " Liz and Lisa". They publish two CDs, Liz and Lisa (1989) and Liz and Lisa - Days Were Different ( 1990), however, were printed in small numbers.
After Lisa Loeb had decided to continue as a solo musician and in 1992 the CD Purple Tape recorded, she succeeded in 1994, the musical breakthrough. She was discovered by actor and friend Ethan Hawke, who lived on the other side of the street from her in New York City in an apartment. She met Hawke through mutual friends in the theater community of New York. Their first hit Stay ( I Missed You), which was heard by the use of Hawke on the soundtrack to the film Reality Bites, reached this year No. 1 on the U.S. singles chart, without that Lisa Loeb had signed at that time a record deal. She became the first artist who achieved this ( after 18 years in 2012 succeeded such a success the artist Macklemore entitled Thrift Shop ).
Stay ( I Missed You) can also be found on Tails, their first CD, which was released by a record company and she took along with her band The Nine Stories. The album reached platinum status in the U.S..
In 1997 their second album, Firecracker, which - as well as their later releases - did not match the commercial success of Tails. The song -how from the second album was used for the soundtrack to the movie Twister.
Their third album was released initially in 2002 under the name Cake and Pie, then in the same year, again with a few new pieces under the name Hello Lisa.
In 2003, Lisa Loeb Catch the Moon an album for children, for which she again worked with Elizabeth Mitchell. 2004 was followed by the album The Way It Really Is
In February 2006, a compilation of their greatest achievements was published under the title The Very Best of Lisa Loeb.
On January 31, 2009 Lisa Loeb married Roey Hershkovitz her fiancé in New York City.
