List of Canadian federal electoral districts

Current List of Canadian federal electoral districts ( Canadian English: ridings / federal electoral districts) comprises 308 constituencies.

History

The constituencies were created by the Act 2003 Representation Order, and came for the first time on 23 May 2004 carrying. Send congressional districts Members of Parliament in the Canadian House of Commons. Provincial constituencies may have similar names with different geographical boundaries have. Canadians elected last May 2, 2011 Members for each federal electoral district in the Canadian general election of 2011.

Four congressional districts that were established by the British North America Act in 1867 are still present: Beauce ( Quebec), Halifax ( Nova Scotia ), Shefford ( Quebec) and Simcoe North (Ontario). On 27 October 2011 the Conservative government put on the Bill C -20, a measure to expand the House of Commons to 338 seats. This resulted in 15 new locations for Ontario, six new seats for Alberta and British Columbia and three for Quebec.
