List of High Kings of Ireland
According to the historical tradition of the Middle Ages Ireland was since ancient times by an Ard Rí ruled (Irish for high king). Modern research makes it clear that this title in most cases only a presumption was without a factual authority over the whole of Ireland and the list until the 5th century, is to be regarded as purely legendary. The High Kings of the traditional list remain historically had little tangible for the early Middle Ages to the 9th century.
