The list of Mayor of Lausanne chronologically lists all city president of the Swiss city of Lausanne.
Title and function of the Mayor
The mayor wears in the French language the title syndic de Lausanne. Its function is to provide the city council to preside (French conseil municipal) and also to conduct meetings.
History
Since the establishment of the canton of Vaud, the city of Lausanne was ruled for a long time by representatives of bourgeois parties. The first president was Samuel Jacques Hollard, the politicized conservative. In 1934, a member of the Social Democrats was elected as president with Arthur Maret first time, which was until 1937 in office. After that, the FDP and the SP changed each from the Bureau.
