List of protected natural resources in Serbia

In Serbia, some 7320 km ² are designated as national park or nature. One reason is also that Serbia forested to 30 percent and most of it is natural.

General

In Serbia meet all five of the nine European biomes. According to the IUCN, the Serbian territory, together with the Bulgarian mountains one of the 153 centers of natural biodiversity. In the territory of Serbia 38.93 percent of European plant species, 51.16 per cent of European fish species, 74.03 percent of European bird species and 67.61 per cent of Europe's mammal species are represented. 1,600 existing in Serbia wild plant and animal species are seen internationally as extremely important. There are also globally threatened species that are now protected live in Serbia most diverse protected areas in part.

Inventory of plants, fish and reptiles:

  • 4,182 plant species
  • 1,400 species of algae
  • 565 moss species
  • 650 species of fungi
  • 131 species of fish
  • 30 amphibian and reptile species

Each reserve is managed separately and is subject to state supervision of the Ministry of Nature Protection and spatial development. Currently 5 % of the entire Serbian territory are placed under state protection. There are many pages of strong efforts until 2010 to come up to over 10%.
