Rosa × centifolia, drawing Koehler 1887

Since the dawn of rose breeding in the 18th century until today more than 30,000 varieties of roses have emerged worldwide. They are assigned different rose gardening classes that can be grouped together. In the Rose classes are not a class or another taxon in terms of biological systematics, the term is therefore not to be found in the system of the plant kingdom. There are no internationally binding regulation on the classification and consequently different divisions are common in different countries.
