When Julia is called a noise, which was registered and incorporated on 1 March 1999 by hydrophones in the Pacific Ocean. The place of origin is located in the range of 15 ° S, 98 ° W - 15-98 between Bransfield Strait and Cape Adare.

The sound was completed only once registered by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration with the help of the Equatorial Pacific Ocean autonomous hydrophone array of the U.S. Navy. It reached such a volume that it was perceived by all sensors of the array in the entire Pacific. The NOAA suspected as the cause of the noise, the collision of a large iceberg with the ocean floor.
