Liste der archaischen Keilschriftzeichen

The list of archaic cuneiform characters ( LAC ) is a character list for the Sumerian cuneiform signs of the pre-classical Fara period (early 2nd Dynasty, about 28th - 27th century BC), published in 1922 by Sumerologists and theologians P. Anton Deimel ( 1865-1954 ). The list shows 870 different cuneiform signs.

The character inventory in the archaic period was significantly greater than the standard stock of the texts of the classical Sumerian ( 2600-2350 ), Akkadian ( 2350-2100 ) or Neu- Sumerian ( 21 th century, all year values : Short Chronology periods). This means that many characters that are identified by their classical reading, continue several distinct characters of the Preclassic period. If it is necessary to locate the desired pre-classical character whose LAK number is usually given in the form of LAC - 1 to LAC -870.
