Literaturpreis der Universitätsstadt Marburg und des Landkreises Marburg-Biedenkopf

The Marburg Literature Prize ( full name Literature Prize of the University of Marburg and the district of Marburg -Biedenkopf ) was an award for young German -speaking authors (up to 40 years), which was awarded from 1980 to 2005 at two yearly intervals.

Was hosted alternately the city of Marburg or the Marburg- Biedenkopf. The main prize was recently endowed with 7,500 euros, which uniquely assigned regional price of 2,500 euros. In spring 2006, the Marburg- Biedenkopf and the municipal authorities of the city of Marburg had announced the setting of the price. Method of competition

The process of competition has been revised over the years several times, most recently in 2003. After 2002, only more difficult to manage by the jury number of 662 applications had been received, significant changes were decided by the Advisory Board of the literary prize.

Themes or literary categories were not predetermined, but no dramas, radio plays or non-fiction were allowed to apply. For only 2004/ 05 also awarded regional price only authors were eligible who were resident in one of the five counties of the district of Central Hesse.

These have been invited to present at the decisive weekend from their current work before the festival audience.
