Little Missouri River in Theodore Roosevelt National Park

The Little Missouri River is a 901 km long tributary of the Missouri River in the northern Great Plains of North America.

It rises in the northeast of the U.S. state of Wyoming, about 35 kilometers west of Devils Tower in Crook County. It then flows continuously to the northeast, cuts a corner of Montana and then reached South Dakota, where it flows through the badlands north to North Dakota. The river crosses the Little Missouri National Grassland, and the two parts of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park, in the northern part he turns back to the east and ends in Lake Sakakawea. There he forms a 48 km long arm of the water tank, the Little Missouri Bay is called and reached the main channel of the Missouri River about 40 kilometers north of Killdeer.
