The Little Sioux River is a left tributary of the Missouri River. It has its origin in southwestern Minnesota near the border with Iowa. It flows across the south-west by the north-western Iowa and ends after 415 km at Little Sioux in the Missouri River. The Little Sioux River was named by the Sioux Indians Eaneah - waudepon or Stone River. Its tributaries include the Ocheyedan River, Maple River and the West Fork of the Little Sioux River. The Little Sioux River is an integral part of nepper Watershed Project, a flood control project in Iowa, which was established in 1947 to regulate the runoff and protection of agricultural land against flooding and erosion.
