Little Snitch

Little Snitch (German: little Sneak ) is a proprietary Personal Firewall for Mac OS X. The software is produced by the Austrian company Objective Development Software GmbH.

History

Version 1.0 of the software was released in January 2003. Starting with version 2 came in November 2007, added a German localization. In September 2012 Little Snitch appeared 3

Functions

Little Snitch allows you to monitor software and each and prohibit the connection to the Internet or to allow.

An application tries to make an outbound or inbound Internet connection, this is stopped and the user is asked in a window if the connection should be allowed or prohibited. There is the possibility to leave the appropriate decision only apply once, temporarily or permanently. Moreover, one can also tune the settings regarding connection parameters, so specific regarding ports, domain and protocols make. The software has a real-time network monitor, in which one direction with respective domains and can track individually in the applications the traffic.

Version 2 and 3 were evaluated by Macworld, each with 4.5 out of 5.
