Liu Sheng

Liu Sheng (Chinese刘胜; † 113 BC) was a prince of the Chinese Han Dynasty. He was the seventh son of Emperor Jing, BC China ruled 157-141. The title Prince of Zhongshan he received in the year 154 BC His wife Dou Wan (窦 绾) survived her husband only slightly, the BC died 113. His posthumous title is Prince Jing of Zhongshan.

Liu Sheng and his wife were buried in a grave in the district Mancheng in today's Hebei Province, which was discovered during construction work in 1968. The grave vault measures about 2,700 cubic meters. Remains of the bodies of Liu Sheng and Dou Wan were found with grave robes, which were consisted of 2,498 plates Jade and connected with more than one kilogram of gold cords. The excavations also 2,800 grave goods came to light. The grave of Liu Sheng and Dou Wan was the first find of grave robes of jade.

The future emperor of Shu Han, Liu Bei, relied on descent from Liu Sheng. In Luo Guanzhongs novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, this descent is explained, but the information is questionable.
