Living Colour

Living Colour (written in the cover artwork partly Living Coloür ) is an alternative metal band that was founded in New York in 1984.

Band History

The formation celebrated its first successes with the Rolling Stones, whose lead singer Mick Jagger, she supported frequently. Living Colour were part of the Black Rock Coalition, an association of black musicians in the field of rock music, and expressed on their plates political statements with regard to the status of blacks in the history of rock music, such as the accusation of exploitation of black culture by the whites in the title Elvis Is Dead.

In 1988 they released their debut album Vivid, from which, among other things, the song " Cult of Personality " was released as a single and the band won the 1990 Grammy Award in the category Best Hard Rock performance of the year. In the song " Funny Vibe ", which was also released as a single, Flavor Flav and Chuck D of Public Enemy are to be heard and it is considered as an early harbinger of the crossover flow of the 1990s, as various styles like hip hop, hard rock and radio are merged. The follow-up album Time's Up released in 1990, the title track in 1991 won a Grammy Award in the category Best Hard Rock performance of the year.

After the album Stain with bassist Doug Wimbish the new and extensive touring, the quartet disbanded mid-1990s and was revived in 2002.

All members are also involved in other projects. So Doug Wimbish and Will Calhoun play, inter alia, Jungle Funk, Vernon Reid has been active as a producer and studio musician and Corey Glover is occasionally active as a solo artist.
