Livingston is a city in the U.S. state of Montana, United States and the administrative seat of Park County. The place made in the 19th century, the gateway to Yellowstone National Park dar.
Geography
Livingston is located in southwestern Montana on the Yellowstone River, north of Yellowstone National Park. The metropolitan area has a size of 15.62 km ², of which 15.59 km ² land and 0.03 km ² water surface are.

History
William Clark, a member of the Lewis and Clark expedition, encamped in 1806 on his way back to the East at the present outskirts of Livingston. His group later met with the Meriwether Lewis together at the confluence of the Yellowstone River and the Missouri River again.
Livingston itself evolved from the trading post Benson 's Landing on the Yellowstone River, approximately 4.8 km downstream from the present-day Livingston was. When in July 1882 contractors of the Northern Pacific Railway to Heman Clark reached the place, he was renamed Clark City; officially the railroad came only on 22 November of the same year according to Clark City. At this time the city was moved upstream to its present location and named after a director and shareholder of the Northern Pacific Railway named Johnson Livingston. Livingston became the original gateway to Yellowstone National Park and was heavily promoted by the Northern Pacific Railway. This had henceforth a headquarters and a railway workshop in Livingston to supply the locomotives before their ascent to the 1,738 meter high Bozeman Pass.
Although the town is small, there are numerous places for tourists, including the Railway Museum Livingston Depot, the Yellowstone Gateway Museum and the Fly Fishing Federation 's Museum, which provides information on fly fishing.
Livingston has twinned with Naganohara in the Japanese prefecture of Gunma.
