Livron-sur-Drôme

Livron- sur -Drôme is a commune with 8986 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Drôme in the Rhône -Alpes; it belongs to the administrative district in the canton of Valence and Loriol -sur -Drôme.

Geography

The small town is located about 25 km north of Montelimar and 20 kilometers south of Valence. Neighboring communities of Livron- sur -Drôme are:

• Étoile -sur -Rhône to the north,
• Allex in the east,
• Loriol -sur -Drôme in the south and
• La Voulte -sur -Rhône in the west.

The municipality is bordered to the south of the Drôme and the west of the Rhone, where it abuts the neighboring department of Ardèche. The town itself is situated on the right bank of the Drome, the further opens about five kilometers as a left tributary of the Rhône. At the municipal boundary to the northern neighboring community Étoile -sur -Rhône joins the Véore in the Rhône.

Transport links

Livron- sur -Drôme is very well served by the major routes of the Rhônetales. To run north to south the A7 motorway, the N7 road and rail link between Valence and Montelimar, where also the nearest airfields. The valley of the Drôme will transport links provided by the department road D104. Here also passes a railway line from the direction of Crest, which is led to a bridge over the Rhone by a node in Livron- sur -Drôme and incorporated there in the railway network at the right bank of the Rhône.
