Ljupčo Jordanovski

Ljupco Jordanovski ( born February 13, 1953 in Stip, † October 7, 2010 in Skopje ) was a Macedonian seismologist and politician.

Life

Jordanovski studied until 1975 Engineering Sciences at the University of Zagreb, 1985, he received his doctorate from the University of Southern California with a degree in mechanical seismology. He then worked at the University of Skopje, where until 2003 he taught from 1992 to 1995 and 1998 as a professor of seismology.

In addition to his scientific work Jordanovski was also active as a politician. As a member of the SDSM, he was elected deputy and in 2003 President of the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia in 2002. After the death of Boris Trajkovski on 26 February 2004, he was, until May 2, 2004 Acting President of Macedonia.

From April to December 2006 Jordanovski was Macedonian Ambassador to the United States. In 2007 he left the SDSM and became chairman of the newly formed Party of Free Democrats.

Ljupco Jordanovski died of a heart attack on October 7, 2010 in Skopje. He was married and had three children.
