Lloyd Phillips

Lloyd Phillips ( born December 14, 1949 in South Africa, † January 25, 2013 in Los Angeles, California ) was a South African born and raised in New Zealand film producer.

Life

Phillips started his career as a photojournalist. In the early 1980s he turned to film production.

In 1981 he was for the short film The Dollar Bottom - even his first production - awarded the Academy Award for Best Short Film. He then went to the United States and settled in Malibu.

As executive producer he was last Basterds (2009) and The Tourist involved in the movies Inglourious. Directed by Zack Snyder new Superman movie Man of Steel, where he was also involved appeared posthumously in June 2013.

Phillips died of a heart attack at the age of 63 years. He was survived by his wife, Beau St. Clair, who is also active as a film producer.
