Lo Wei

Lo Wei (Chinese罗维/罗维Luo wéi, born December 12, 1918 in Jiangsu, China, † January 20, 1996 in Hong Kong, China) was a Chinese director for kung fu and martial arts movies. His most famous films were with Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan. He also worked as an actor.

Life

Before Lo Wei began his career as a director, he worked in the 1950s in many movies as an actor. Also during his time as director Wei appeared as an actor. After his last film as a director Wei appeared in a few films as an actor. Last 1990.

At the beginning of his directing career in the 1960s turned Wei films for the Shaw Brothers, before he transferred in 1971 with the film The Death Fist of Cheng Li for Golden Harvest. The film was a huge success and helped Bruce Lee to break through, but also Lo Wei himself was known through the film. A year later led Lo Wei directed death Greetings from Shanghai. The film was his second collaboration with Bruce Lee. This film was very successful. However, because of disputes between Wei and Lee, there was no third collaboration between the two.

Lo Wei died on 12 December 1996 at the age of 77 years in Hong Kong from heart failure.
