Lobstädt is a village in the district of Leipzig, Saxony. Since April 1, 2008, the formerly independent municipality district of the municipality Neukieritzsch.

Geography and transport

The place is located in the south of Leipzig lowlands on the edge of the Leipzig New Lakeland. Thus, the memory Witznitz in the northwest and the memory Borna is in the south of the municipal area. History

Lobstädt is first mentioned on April 2, 1299. From the original Lobschwitz ( Lobschitz, Lobeschitz ) the present name was Lobstädt. In Lobstädt there was a medieval moated castle, which secured the ford over the splices and later developed into a manor. This was owned by the major Saxon noble families of Könneritz and von Einsiedel. The community was dominated since the early 20th century from the surrounding opencast lignite mines, so that partially the surrounding villages were demolished. That left by the community Kieritzsch after 1935 only the new community Neukieritzsch left. The place Kahnsdorf formed from the merger of the villages Zöpen, Kahnsdorf and Pürsten. In 1994, through the merger of the municipalities Kahnsdorf, Großzössen Lobstädt and the greater community Lobstädt, which was part of the joint management Neukieritzsch. It was incorporated on 1 April 2008 in the town Neukieritzsch.
