Loch Duich ( Scottish Gaelic Loch Dubhthaich ) is a bay on the west coast of Scotland in the North West Highlands. In Scotland, these bays sea lochs are called.

The Loch Duich is fed by the estuaries Loch Alsh and Loch Long. The bay is about 8.5 kilometers long and 1.5 kilometers wide on average.

On a small island in Loch Duich near the village of Dornie is the famous Eilean Donan Castle, which is connected with a stone pedestrian bridge to the mainland.

The A87 main road leads over several kilometers on the northeastern shore.

History

In 1719, many farms were burned down along the bay by British forces, just before the Battle of Glen Shiel began between British government troops and an alliance of Jacobites and Spaniards.
