Lock (water transport)#Cill

The term jamb ( altmittelhochdt.: jamb door threshold ) refers to a lock the ledge, the addition of energy conversion serves as a stop for the closed mountain -side gate ( definition according to DIN 4054 ) and at a lock with shooters in the gates.

When driving the gate, a threshold depth is to be noted, as this measure determines the maximum draft of vessels. So when draining the water from the lock chamber, the ship does not rest on the jamb and is damaged, the location of Drempels at the lock chamber wall is color coded (yellow vertical bar) and to observe when going downhill: the vessel must not be located closer to the upper lock gate when the marker line indicates. In mountain driving can be seen as the jamb wall below the mountain side lock door (see picture).
