Łódź, Poznań County

Łódź ([' wuʨ ]? / I, German Lodz, 1939-45 Mittensee ) is a village in the Wielkopolska Region in powiat Poznański in the community Stęszew. The parish seat Stęszew is about three kilometers north of the town. Not far from Łódź is the National Park of Wielkopolska. In the north of the village is the lake Witobelskie, in the east of the lake Łódzko - Dymaczewskie.

Attraction of the village is the wooden church Św. Jadwiga ( Hedwig saint ) of the 17th century. The church, which is surrounded by trees, consists of a hall, which has no presbytery. The church was thoroughly restored in 1784. The brick vestry was built only in 1936 according to plans by Lucjan Michałowski. The roof of the sacristy is crowned by a helmet made ​​of sheet metal with a lantern. Inside the church there are bars with crosses, which date from the 16th century. The Baroque main altar was built in 1670. In the chancel there are pictures of 1866, representing an offering after having overcome a cholera epidemic. In 1959, the roof, which was previously covered with straw, covered with shingles. 1981 saw a further thorough renovation. Around the church runs a wall with a gate from the 18th century.

1854 a brick chapel was built as a tomb for the Potocki family in neo-romantic style. In the chapel there are eight tombs of black marble. The bell tower built in 1863 has a bell installed in 1864, which honors the Polish victory over the Turks at Vienna. From 1975 to 1998, the city was part of the Province of Posen.
