Loeillet

Loeillet is a Belgian family of musicians of the Baroque period.

  • Jean -Baptiste François Loeillet (1653-1685), father of John Loeillet and Jacques Loeillet
  • Pierre Loiellet (1674-1743), violinist at the St. Bavo Cathedral in Ghent
  • John Loeillet (born Jean -Baptiste Loeillet; 1680-1730 ), composer, harpsichordist, flautist and oboist
  • Jacques Loeillet (1685-1748), a half-brother of John Loeillet, was first oboist in the court orchestra of Maximilian II Emanuel ( Bavaria ) in Brussels, whom he followed to Munich in 1725. Later he had an appointment at the French court as an oboist in the " Chambre du Roi " in Versailles. He also appeared as illusionist and magician in appearance. He published in 1728 in Paris two collections " Sonata da chiesa " Opus 4 and Opus 5
  • Jean -Baptiste Loeillet de Gant ( 1688 - ~ 1720), composer and flautist
  • Étienne -Joseph Loeillet (1715-1797), a half-brother of Jean -Baptiste Loeillet de Gant, was a violinist and organist at the cathedral in Brussels. An application for the post of Kapellmeister in succession by Ignaz Vitzthumb was unsuccessful.
