Lola Anglada ( Anglada Maria Dolors i Sarriera ) (* 1896 in Barcelona, † September 12, 1984 in Tiana, Barcelona Province ) was a Catalan writer, illustrator and cartoonist. Mainly she wrote and illustrated children's books.

Life

Lola Anglada was close to the cultural flow noucentisme in Catalonia, which emerged in the political environment, which was founded by Enric Prat de la Riba 1906 katalanistischen movement Solidarity Catalana. Age of 13, she was responsible for the cartoon magazine ¡ Cu Cut!. At the age of 17 her first work in the issue of the magazine De Patufet published. In 1916 she illustrated an obituary of Oscar Wilde. In 1918 she traveled to Paris, where she worked for numerous French magazines and wrote her first book. Contes del Paradís was published in 1920 with text and drawings. During the Spanish Civil War she joined the UGT workers' movement and worked for the Commissariat of propaganda. After the war they settled permanently in Tiana, Barcelona Province down. She died on 12 September 1984 to the summer residence of their family.
