Lollandsbanen

Lollandsbanen (LJ), German: Lollandsbahn, is a railroad company on the Danish island of Lolland. It is the oldest private company in Denmark.

History

The history of Lollandsbahn began on 22 August 1872. At that time, the distance of Orehoved was opened after Nykøbing. This 22.4 km long route became part of the Danske Statsbaner (DSB ) on 1 January 1893. On 1 July 1886, the 22.8 km long line was opened to Gedser that merged on 1 January 1893, the DSB. At the same time still operated main line of Nykøbing about Maribo by Nakskov the 14.4 km long stretch of Maribo was opened Rodby. This route was renewed on July 27, 1912 by 5.2 kilometers to Rødbyhavn.
