Lombok Strait

Geographical location

The Lombok Strait is a strait between the Indonesian islands of Bali and Lombok. It connects the Indian Ocean with the Balisee.

It is for East Asia and internationally one of the most important maritime trade routes.

Through the 60-km -long strait called the Wallace line runs. There is evidence that Homo erectus already 800,000 years ago, has crossed to the south just 19 km to the north and 40 km wide waterway with rafts.
