Lomen stave church

Lomen Stave Church is one of the surviving stave churches in Norway. It stands in the village of Lomen in Vestre Slidre the municipality in Oppland. It is believed that the church was built in the second half of the 12th century. With the help of dendrochronology the formation has been dated to the year 1179. The first written sources (under the name Hvams kirke ) from the years 1325 and 1334.

The church was rebuilt in 1779 and enlarged. By 1914 she was in liturgical use until the new church was built in Lomen. This is about 2 km north of the stave church.

With the increased interior is one of the stave church for type B.

The interior of the church is supported by four rods, there are three portals decorated with carvings, arches and columns with capitals. At the last restoration of the church, archaeological excavations were carried out, 71 items were found; among other things, jewelry and coins. Some of the coins date from the 12th century.
