Lone Scherfig

Lone Scherfig ( born May 2, 1959 in Copenhagen) is a Danish screenwriter and director. In Germany it was known primarily by the Dogme film Italian for Beginners. Scherfig, Great niece of Hans Scherfig, studied 1976-1980 Film Studies at the University of Copenhagen and at the Sorbonne in Paris and beyond directing at the Danske Filmskole ( Danish Film School ), where she graduated in 1984. From 1984, staged Scherfig smaller documentaries, her first feature film ( The birthday trip) was born 1990.

For Italian for Beginners Scherfig received, inter alia, the Silver Bear ( Jury Prize ) at the Berlin Film Festival 2001.
