One Day (2011 film)

The love story One Day (English Original Title: One Day ) appeared in 2011 and is an American-British comedy drama by Danish director Lone Scherfig, from the films An Education and Italian for Beginners come. One Day is based on the novel by David Nicholls and best-selling, who also wrote the screenplay for the film.

Action

The German film title is misleading, the ambiguity of the English original One Day (Eng. One day A single day ), however, says more accurately what it's about: The 15th July is the date that characterizes the relationship between Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew, and not just once but every year. It all starts with a common night after the exam celebration on 15 July 1988 in Edinburgh. Then you split up, because you're just too different.

Dex, a small Adonis and reckless daredevil and womanizer from the rich upper class, the unassuming Em at college perceives and hardly even forgets her name. After graduating, he travels once around in world history. Then he begins a career as a shallow music TV presenter, enjoys his dandy life to the fullest, going to parties, get drunk like, impregnates a humorless, but wealthy girl, marries, and has just plain fun - until his mother dies its popularity wears off the television audience and his place is filled by a younger.

Emma on the other hand comes from a humble background, lives in musty mini apartments and has always been in love with the easy-going Dex. She is politically active and dreams of becoming a writer, but has too many self-doubt and learns too little encouragement to come up with their first attempts to write to venture to the public. Disillusioned, she takes a job as a waitress in a cheap restaurant chain, promoted there though as managing director, but studied the way pedagogy and will eventually become a dedicated teacher - until finally her jealous boyfriend snooping in her diary, discovered her talent for writing and Emma to the successful Bestsellers author is.

Despite or because of many personal ups and downs and changing partners Em and Dex never lose sight of it completely, somehow magnetically to each other are attracted and use, as Harry and Sally each other on the shoulder, to which they sit and at the they can speak out and raise. At each 15 July they meet, take once even a common pleasure, but, because of their different characters never really together until finally, 16 years after their first night, even Dexter, now divorced father and simple worker recognizes and admits what he has been looking for. The two marry, they make passionate love and want a child. But their happiness is short-lived. Emma comes in a traffic accident - again a 15th of July. The Inconsolable Dexter must do without them in the future and lives of his memories.

Criticism

It tells the chronicle in the lilting style of a rom-com comedy starring illustrious venues and atmospheric songs. It succeeds the screenwriter David Nicholls, self-administer the bitter medicine in smug comic dialogue doses. That the bittersweet episodes add despite the narrative lapse into a successful whole, is also due to the stringent game of the two main characters. Although Jim Sturgess and Anne Hathaway have limited the makings of a perfect couple, but they are able to make the traits and changes their characters at any time. This makes the film might not be such a profound masterpiece, as it was Lone Scherfig's last film " An Education ," but it always lifts out from the mass of common Rom Coms from Hollywood.
