Longuita District

Longuita is one of the 23 Peruvian districts, which form the province of Luya in the region of the Amazon. District capital is Longuita.

In the north, the district borders the district Longuita Colcamar, on the east by the district of Tingo ( Luya ), to the southeast by the district María ( Luya ), on the west by the district Pisuquía and to the northwest by the district Ocumal ( Luya ).

Longuita is located in the high mountains. Around Longuita one still finds many little explored ruins of the Chachapoyas culture. The central feast in Longuita will be celebrated from 4 to 10 October in honor of San Miguel (Saint Michael ) and San Francisco (St. Francis ). In Longuita district is also home to the Cucha - Cuella Lake.
