Loonalaid ( German Latvians Holm, Swedish Letenholm ) is an Estonian Baltic island.

Location and description

Loonalaid the largest island of an archipelago is west of Saaremaa. It is located about one kilometer northeast of the westernmost point of Estonia, the island Nootamaa.

Loonalaid belongs administratively to the municipality Kihelkonna in Saare County. The area of ​​the island is 1.08 square kilometers. The highest elevation is 5 meters above the sea level.

The island is part of the National Park Vilsandi. Flora and fauna are under comprehensive conservation.

Loonalaid is uninhabited today. On the island you can find the remains of a dwelling with sauna, cellar and fountains.
