Loosdrecht

Loosdrecht is the name of a village in the municipality Wijdemeren. It is located in the Dutch province of North Holland. Loosdrecht consists of two parts: Old (Oud ) -Loosdrecht and the much larger New ( Nieuw ) -Loosdrecht. Loosdrecht had in the year 2004 8.970 inhabitants.

It is up to the broadcasting city Hilversum. Loosdrecht is surrounded by five lakes or ponds. These were created in the 14th century by excavations. The place is known for water sports what many guests from Germany perceive. Loosdrecht has also been known for its porcelain manufactory. The priest Joannes de Mol has this set up as a work project.

By 2003, Loosdrecht was a separate municipality. 2003, the municipality was merged with the towns of Nederhorst den Berg, Kortenhoef and 's- Graveland. In order for the new church Wijdemeren arose. By 2003, Loosdrecht was a part of Utrecht, but was by merging a part of North -Holland. For a long time Loosdrecht and its surrounding property of the noble family Van Amstel van Mijnden.
