Lophophora diffusa is a species in the genus Lophophora in the cactus family ( Cactaceae ). The species name refers to the diffuse shallow cusps of the plants.

Description

Lophophora diffusa grows singly or forming groups. The weichfleischigen and almost spherical shoots are green and can reach heights of growth 2-7 centimeters in diameter and 5 to 12 centimeters. There are not formed ribs. The bumps are usually formed wide and flat. Spines are absent.

Lophophora diffusa is the southernmost widespread species of the genus Lophophora. The plants growing on calcareous soils in a relatively small area between Vizarrón, Bucareli and Toliman in the Mexican state of Queretaro.
