Lords of Appeal in Ordinary

Lord judges were judges and members of the House of Lords, the House of Lords. Until the energy absorption of the newly geschaffenenen Supreme Court in 2009 they were as representative of the House of Lords, the highest court of appeal of the British judiciary. Since then, the House of Lords is also relieved of any further legal functions and thus lifted the 1876 -created office of Lord judge as obsolete.

The Lord judges included:

  • The Lord Chief Justice
  • The Lord High Chancellor, the spiritual and temporal adviser ( " Registrar " ) of the English king and keeper of the royal seal was originally, now Minister of Justice and President of the House of Lords and President of the Court of Appeal ( England and Wales).
