Lorenzo I. De Leon Guerrero

Lorenzo I. De Leon Guerrero ( born January 25, 1935 on Saipan, † October 6, 2006 ) was an American politician. Between 1990 and 1994 he was governor of the Northern Mariana Islands.

Career

About the youth and education of Lorenzo Guerrero nothing is handed down. Between 1973 and 1976 he was Vice President of Saipan Shipping Co. From 1978 to 1989 he worked for the Philippine, Micronesia and the Orient Navigation Co. From 1980 to 1989 he was also the owner and manager of the Commonwealth Maritime Agency in Saipan. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. Between 1972 and 1980 he sat in the Senate of the Northern Mariana Islands. From 1980 to 1982 he was President of the Senate under a new constitution. In 1976 he was a delegate and also President of the Constitutional Convention of his homeland. From 1983 to 1985 he served as Chairman of the Republican Party in its territory.

In 1989, Guerrero was elected as the new governor of the Northern Mariana Islands. On 8 January 1990 he joined the successor of Pedro Tenorio. This post he held until 10 January 1994. In 1997 he applied unsuccessfully to return to the Office of the Governor. Guerrero died on 6 October 2006 at Saipan. He was married and had ten children.
