Lotus 39
The Lotus 39 was a Formula One racing car, built by the British Motor Sport Team Lotus.
The Lotus 39 was based on an engineering design for Formula 1 and should replace the Lotus 33. Was conceived of the car to accommodate the 1.5-liter FWMV -16 flat motor from Climax. The car came to a bad design, because the Climax engine never reached the race readiness. Lotus therefore also drove the entire 1965 season with the Model 33 - a right decision, because Jim Clark won thus superior to the World Cup and secured Lotus also the title of the designers.
The 39 was eventually built, but with the 2.5-liter Climax FPF - engine in the rear. The vehicle was used in the 1966 Tasman series where Jim Clark so that at least second in the overall standings behind Jackie Stewart was.
