Lou Jiwei

Lóu Jiwei (Chinese楼 继伟) (* December 1950 in Beijing) is a Chinese politician. Since 2007 he has held the office of Vice - Secretary General of the State Council of the People's Republic of China and Chairman and CEO of China Investment Corporation, which manages the state agency a part of China's foreign exchange reserves and in 2011 a fund has $ 409.6 billion.

Training

Lou Jiwei studied computer science at Tsinghua University and graduated after activities in the economy and as a soldier in the southern Chinese Navy from 1982 to 1984 the postgraduate studies Econometrics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Lou is considered a protégé of Zhu Rongji.

Career

In 1973 he joined the Communist Party.

After graduating in 1984, he worked as deputy director of the Office of Finance and Banking of the General Office of the State Council and Director of the Institute of Finance and Trade Economics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. From 1992 he was deputy director of the Office of Economic Reforms of Beijing city and Director of the State Commission for Economic Restructuring. In 1995 he was appointed Vice-Minister of Finance as Vice- Governor of Guizhou Province and 1998.

In March 2007, the appointment of the Vice - Secretary General of the State Council of the People's Republic of China took place. In this capacity he prepared the establishment of a state agency that administers the Chinese foreign exchange reserves. The fund was founded under the name of China Investment Corporation, with a volume of about 409.6 billion U.S. dollars ( 2011) one of the largest in the world.
