Louis Augustin Guillaume Bosc

Louis Augustin Guillaume Bosc d' Antic ( born January 29, 1759 in Paris, † July 10, 1828 in Paris) was a French naturalist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Bosc ".

Life and work

Louis Augustin Guillaume Bosc d' Antic was the son of the physician and chemist Paul Bosc d' Antic ( 1726-1784 ). He edited from 1784 to 1788 the "Journal des Savants " and was among Roland's Ministry Administrateur des Postes. In 1796 he was sent by the Board as consul to North America and was appointed professor and administrator at the Jardin des Plantes in Paris after his return.

Ehrentaxon

To him, the genus of the plant family of Boscia capers plants ( Capparaceae ) was named in honor.
