Louis Dubois (painter)

Louis Dubois ( born December 13, 1830 in Schaerbeek, Brussels today, † April 28, 1880 ) was a Belgian painter.

Louis Dubois was a follower of Courbet, without being his pupil. His wide range of work includes portraits, landscapes, marines, genre paintings and still life and close in the luminosity of coloring to Jacob Jordaens on.

In 1857 he presented in Brussels Salon following pictures:

  • The Redemptorist
  • A victim to the measured preparatory priesthood.

1860 followed

  • The storks (1860, Museum at Brussels ),
  • Roulette,
  • The choir boy.

The Brussels Salon of 1863 brought

  • The solitude, a large, realistic treated landscape whose centerpiece is a dead deer.

He died on 28 April 1880 in Brussels.
