Views and theses

Dumont's theoretical work contributed to the understanding of the dimensions of hierarchical relationships. Dumont suspected that behind every distinction, was to find a hierarchy behind each pair of opposites. Dumont's work to the Indian caste system reflects this by structuralist thought. Dumont also developed theories on western society, especially to individualism, and the alliance theory.
